we're curing your case of the mondays

we're curing your case of the mondays

We’ve all encountered those bewildering people who embrace Monday as if it were Friday. Like rare birds, they merrily chirp their way through the giant hurdle that is the beginning of the workweek. Who are they? What are they doing? What is their secret? It’s simple. It’s water.

That’s right, while the rest of us schlep through the big M with a triple venti latte, they’re out there living their best life with nothing other than water, because water is all you need. Why do we keep forgetting that? It’s every model’s beauty secret, every nutritionist’s advice, and every doctor’s request: Drink more water.

So, we’re setting out to help you drink away your Monday blues with our Case of the Mondays campaign. Every Monday, we’re giving our followers on Instagram the chance to win a free case of Penta delivered straight to their door. All you have to do is follow the simple steps we post (follow, like, tag), and every Tuesday we’ll announce a winner for the week. Keeping you hydrated is our number one priority, followed closely by gaining the upper hand on that smug little calendar column beginning with M.

Does that mean we are suggesting—gasp—that you cut out Coffee all together? We’re not monsters. Sure, in an ideal world, caffeine highs and their inevitable afternoon crashes would be reserved for special occasions, because coffee isn’t actually doing that much for you. While a hit of caffeine in the morning perks you up, did you know that rush of energy you get after you slurp your morning brew isn’t real? That’s right—coffee doesn’t give you energy, it just tricks your body into thinking it does. Basically, caffeine acts the same way a painkiller does. When you are tired, you have increased levels of adenosine in the brain, and caffeine blocks your high levels of adenosine from attaching to receptors in your brain. So it isn’t curing your tiredness or making it go away, it’s just masking it until the afternoon. Then, cue the afternoon crash.

Whether you function without caffeine or swear by its otherworldly powers, it’s imperative that you stay hydrated either way. Dehydration makes you tired, and if you’ve ever woken up on a Monday, you know that you’re going to need all the help you can get. So, let us help you. Rub the sleep from your eyes, open your Insta app, and put yourself in the running for that free case of Penta. Because like a wise philosopher once said, “When life gives you Mondays, drink water.”
